The Benedictine University Library will discontinue multiple databases and journal subscriptions during the 2017-18 fiscal year. For the full list of cancellations along with subscription end dates, please see the Library Cancellations FY2017-18 spreadsheet.
University Librarian Jack Fritts released the following message:
As you are aware, we are undergoing some belt-tightening this year across the institution. I want to share with you a list of the resources we are cancelling in order to balance our operating budget in the library. These cuts affect all programs and all campuses. Some are going to require changes in assignments or course reserves. We made our decisions primarily on the basis of usage. I trust that in time we will be able to resubscribe to some or all of these tools, but for this year at least they have been removed. Please contact your liaison librarians or any of the librarians if you need some assistance in identifying other resources that you can access in place of those we cut. We will do our best to assist you in identifying usable, workable resources to support your teaching and research.
This has not been a pleasant exercise, but we worked to ensure that resources would still be available for all disciplines. Please contact me if you have questions.
