Students have historically found opportunities and job stability in the accounting field and that remains true today. They acquire knowledge of the principles of financial and managerial accounting and develop skills in communication, analytical thinking and teamwork. The Accounting program at Benedictine also provides a thorough grounding in the other business disciplines.
Many of our students complete an internship. These are opportunities with local companies whereby students utilize their accounting knowledge to gain practical experience. An internship can be very helpful in finding one’s first professional position. Students gain valuable experience in using accounting software utilized by prospective employers. They also can receive credit for life or work experience if they have had prior business or accounting opportunities.
Students choose from two specialized tracks for those planning on taking the CPA and CMA exams and are able to meet the 150-hour CPA requirement by completing a master’s degree in one of our graduate programs.
