The Finance undergraduate program at Benedictine deals with the raising, use, and investment of money and capital by individuals or businesses around the globe. Graduates are valuable in all areas of business, financial institutions, and investment groups. Areas of employment possibilities include banking and financial institutions, corporate finance, managerial finance, financial instruments and investment analysis, financial services, trading, risk management, insurance and personal finance.
This program explores the role of economics and business in the social environment of our culture, with focused courses that articulate how the functional areas of business interrelate within organizations. Students acquire skills in communication, analytical thinking and an appreciation of the human element in organizations from a spectrum of general education, interdisciplinary and management course work.
The core curriculum features an integrated study of business courses that pertain to the functional aspects of business, accounting, finance, management and marketing. Similar consideration for international business characteristics is included. Exposure to economic theory as well as fundamental analytical courses in mathematics and statistics is included to provide students with foundational and practical problem solving tools.
Students will gain a broad understanding of the principles of finance; the use of quantitative techniques; and the application of these techniques to financial decision making; hands-on experience with leading finance applications such as Bloomberg Professional and ThinkorSwim as well as broker applications such as Ameritrade, Oanda, and FXCM.
This major prepares graduates for entry level professional and career positions in finance. Graduates of the program are also qualified for graduate and professional study in business or finance.
This business degree is available through day classes for traditional undergraduate students. The major is offered in time periods and formats that are designed for the needs of adult learners, offered through an evening cohort program.
