Financial aid is monetary assistance that helps make higher education affordable to students from a wide variety of backgrounds. When a family’s resources are insufficient to cover all expenses, financial aid programs are available to provide additional assistance.
In general, there are two types of students who qualify for financial aid:
All students applying for need-based financial aid are asked to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at fafsa.gov.
If you are a resident of Arizona and wish to be considered for state grant funds to azgrants.az.gov.

The first responsibility for paying for your education rests with you and your family. If your resources are not sufficient to meet all the expenses of the school of your choice, then you should qualify for financial aid from one or more sources. There are four major sources of educational funds:
Amount: Up to $5,550
Eligibility: Demonstration of exceptional need (FAFSA)
Amount: Varies, based on need

Amount: Hourly wages up to 20 hours per week
Eligibility: Demonstration of need (FAFSA)
Amount: Limit of $23,000 for all four years of undergraduate work
Eligibility: Demonstration of need (FAFSA); enrolled for at least six semester hours
Repayment: Begins six months after student ceases to be enrolled for at least six semester hours
Amount: Limit of $31,000, less amounts borrowed under subsidized Stafford Loan program
Eligibility: Enrolled for at least six semester hours
Repayment: Begins six months after student ceases to be enrolled for at least six semester hours
Amount: Cost of education minus other financial aid
Eligibility: Enrolled for at least six semester hours
Repayment: Varies
Must be a resident of Arizona.

Amount: Up to $7,000
Eligibility: Demonstration of exceptional need (FAFSA); must have completed 60 college credits at the time of application. Loan is forgivable upon agreement to teach in an Arizona public school.
